During my crit the majority of discussion was spent on developing the vertical circulation through my mezzanine  and dmz office with my suspended steel stair case.  In the next step of this design development i want to look at designing my own stair case on the ground floor and mezzanine level so that i can make it more interesting between the two levels and it will enhance my main atrium space much better. Also with my ground floor i had a my washroom and other utilities too front and centre, need to be tucked away more. On the residential levels i didnt have too many problems with, I want to take a look at the balance between my common area and unit living areas.

  1. -at some point I will post up a copy of what we agreed would be the "ASC401 Studio Cliche Bingo Game" so everyone can see how they rank; I would like to think that Section One would not get too many (if any) marks in that game; the ground floor plan you outlined is very much about that generic property that I have decried about with respect to students' ideas on the Third Place; you are better than that; aside from the generic numbering of spaces (i.e. public lounge area, public entrance, etc.), your huge expanses of space highlight an inability to define the nature of the space inside; it could be a big box store, a studio, or a restaurant if not for your reliance on icons and your legend
-there is a need for better refinement in the breakdown of your spaces on the ground floor; define it and you might have a stronger presentation of your ideas
-designing the staircase will help but do not rely on it as the sole crux of your design; there is still quite a generic/sanitized aesthetic to your design that needs to be positioned as unique to you
-as with many other students, I am asking you to define your "big idea"; the allocation of spaces is relatively easy afterwards and even if the functional programming is not perfect, one gets credit for doing a good design far more than sequencing space; look at Wright's Guggenheim museum - the design was not about allotting the gallery spaces and washrooms properly, it was driven by the big idea of the spiraling ascent; the museum stands as an incredible piece of architecture even to this day and though things such as the washrooms and display of certain works are awkward, the project is driven by a strong design that ensures everyone appreciates the intention and design potential; this is what you have to do; your design needs more inspiration via an overarching idea
-it is clear that you can make this project work from a production perspective, however it really needs you to unify everything under a greater design idea
-continue the project like this and you will be competent - unify your work under a strong idea and you will be good designer
