The Lot
Having completed the first project that ideally got everyone thinking about the level of assembly and detail as well as what the Digital Media Zone at Ryerson University encapsulates, the second year students are now charged with developing a design for a multi-unit residential graduate residence with a ground level street address that showcases Ryerson's premiere facility to bring innovations to market.
The site for the proposal sits on the currently empty lot formerly the Empress Hotel, and more recently known as the former home of the Salad King Restaurant. Having endured a disastrous building collapse followed by a six-alarm fire, the site has been abandoned until recent developments in the area.
It is hoped that students will propose something that will develop a project that adequately fills this void in the downtown core and boundary of Ryerson University.
